Anyone else just feel lonely as a parent?

I love my kids more than anything but being a dad can be isolating. Most of my old friends are still doing the single guy thing and my married friends with kids live far away. I'm with my kids all day but I feel like I never talk to actual adults anymore. Work is fine but it's not the same as having actual friendships. Wondering if this is normal or if I'm just bad at maintaining relationships. Might start looking for a dad group or something.

You're loving your kids well which is what matters. But yeah you gotta take care of yourself too. Find even one or two dad friends you can talk to honestly. We're not meant to do this solo.

Parenting is isolating for sure. You're responsible for these little humans 24/7 and your old life just doesn't fit anymore. I've found that connecting with other dads who get it has helped a ton. They understand why you can't just bail on plans or why you're exhausted.

This is real and I think a lot of dads feel it but don't talk about it. Your friends without kids are living a different life now and it's hard to relate. But there are other dads out there feeling the same way. Maybe look for a local dad group or even just one other dad to grab coffee with. You're not alone in feeling alone.
