Does anyone use BumbleBFF or similar to make dad friends?

I moved to Austin with my family about 6 months ago and I don't really know anyone here besides my wife's work friends. My kids are 5 and 8. I tried BumbleBFF for a bit last month but it felt weird, like dating but for friendship? Has anyone had better luck with apps or is there actually a better way to meet other dads when you're new somewhere? I'm definitely feeling isolated and my wife keeps saying I need to "get out and do something" but I have no idea what that even looks like as a 38yo dad.
