Feeling really lonely even though I'm married with two kids

This is gonna sound weird but I feel so isolated. I love my family but I don't have any real friends anymore. All my buddies from college have moved or we just grew apart. I work, come home, handle kid stuff, and repeat. My wife is great but I can't dump all my friendship needs on her. Anyone else feeling this way? How do you make friends as a dad in your 40s?

Dude, same. I work nights at the hospital and days with the kids, so it's like I'm never fully present anywhere. The loneliness hits hardest when everyone's asleep and I'm just sitting there with my coffee at 6 AM before the chaos starts.

This resonates with me more than I'd like to admit. The isolation is real even when you're surrounded by people who depend on you. Have you thought about therapy? Not saying anything's wrong, just... sometimes you need someone outside the family to actually hear you.

Man, I feel this. Being with your family 24/7 but still feeling alone is such a weird headspace. Have you tried finding a dad group or something local? Even just one other person who gets it can make a huge difference.
