First therapy session was harder than I expected
Been putting it off for like 3 years. Finally bit the bullet and went to see someone last week. I thought I'd go in there, talk about my stuff, get some tips and leave feeling better. Instead I spent most of the session just sitting there trying not to cry, barely able to get words out. The therapist was great about it but man, I felt emotionally drained for 2 days after. Starting to realize how much I've been pushing down. Anyone else find the actual process of getting help more intense than anticipated?
Waiting three years then finally committing is totally normal. So many of us dads feel like we're supposed to just handle everything ourselves. Talking to someone who actually knows what they're doing changes the game.
