Found a therapist who actually gets it
Been through 3 therapists in the past 2 years and finally found someone who doesn't try to fix everything in one session or tell me "just be present for your kids." She's a woman, surprisingly, but she specifically works with dads dealing with depression and burnout. We're in Denver if anyone's local. First session I actually cried talking about stuff. Feels good? Weird? Both?
It's interesting you mention she's a woman—a lot of guys have better luck with female therapists because they don't default to the 'tough it out' mentality. Whatever works, works.
