Doctor finally agreed with me that my anxiety is not normal and put me on 50mg sertraline. I'm nervous about side effects (anyone else worried about that?) but also relieved that something is actually happening instead of just white-knuckling through every day. Starting it this weekend. If you've been on SSRIs, did they actually help or am I just hoping for a miracle?

50mg is a pretty standard starting dose. Give it a couple weeks before you judge how it's working. The first few days can feel weird but that usually settles down.

Nervous about starting meds is totally normal. But also remember that untreated anxiety does damage too, especially when you're trying to be present for your kids. You made the right call getting help.
