Loneliness while being surrounded by people all day

Working in an office with 50 people around me and I feel completely isolated. Come home to family and still feel alone. It's weird. I think a lot of it is because I can't really talk to anyone about how I'm actually feeling. Everyone at work wants to talk about sports or their promotions. Wife is dealing with her own stuff. I love my kids but they need me to be the strong one. Sometimes I just want someone to ask me how I'm really doing.

Man, I get this. Being around people all day at work and then coming home doesn't automatically fill that void, you know? Sometimes it's about the quality of connection, not the quantity. Have you thought about talking to someone professional about it? That helped me work through similar feelings.

This resonates with me because I feel it at the office too even with all the chaos around. The isolation while surrounded by people is real and it's not something you just snap out of. You're not alone in feeling this way, even if it seems contradictory.
