Small wins in self care when you're a parent
Started going for morning runs before the kids wake up and I gotta say, it's changing my whole day. Even just 30 minutes alone with my thoughts is helping my anxiety so much. I'm not trying to be that guy who thinks exercise fixes everything, but I've noticed I'm less irritable with my family and sleeping better. Sometimes self care can't be spa days when you're a dad with limited time and money. A walk, a run, whatever. Taking care of yourself IS taking care of your family.
This is huge. I started doing the same thing about 6 months ago and honestly it's the only time the day feels like it's mine. Even 20 minutes before everyone wakes up makes such a difference in my patience level. What time are you getting out there?
