Started therapy last month and honestly it's helping
Been seeing a therapist for 5 weeks now and I'm noticing real changes. I'm not snapping at my kids over small stuff as much. Dr. Morrison (great therapist in Portland if anyone's in the area) helped me realize a lot of my anger issues are rooted in feeling like I'm failing as a provider. We're working through it. Still hard some days but I feel like I'm actually making progress instead of just white-knuckling through life.
The snapping at the kids thing is so real. I didn't realize how much my stress was coming out on them until I started paying attention. Did your therapist give you specific techniques or is it more about understanding the root stuff?
My therapist recommended I start keeping a journal and it's weirdly helpful. I don't show anyone, it's just for me to notice patterns. Might be worth trying if you're looking for something between sessions.
