Taking time for myself actually helps
My therapist suggested I do something just for me at least once a week. I was skeptical because when am I gonna have time right? But I started going to the gym 3 times a week and it's genuinely helping. I feel less angry, sleeping better, and even being more patient with the kids. Took me a while to realize that taking care of myself isn't selfish. If you're struggling, I really recommend trying this.
Your therapist is right. I do a solo coffee run every Saturday morning before the kids wake up and it's become sacred. Nothing fancy, just 30 minutes that's mine.
