Tried the Headspace app for a month - honest review
Downloaded it when my anxiety was getting out of control. Tried the sleep meditations for about 4 weeks. Pros: some of them genuinely helped me fall asleep faster, and the app has a "quick SOS" meditation for panic that I used a couple times. Cons: the voice sometimes felt cheesy, I felt like I was forcing it on days I was too wound up to focus.
Overall: decent for $100/yr but I'm gonna try therapy instead and see if that gets better results. Might go back to it as a supplement though.
The "felt cheesy" factor is so underrated. Like your brain can't relax if the narrator sounds like they're trying too hard to be zen. Might be worth trying Calm or Insight Timer just to compare voices?
