2 week old won't sleep unless held, am I creating a bad habit?

So my daughter is 2 weeks old and she will literally only sleep if someone is holding her. The second we put her down in the bassinet she wakes up screaming. My wife is exhausted and honestly I'm starting to lose it too. I know newborns like to be held but this feels extreme. Are we doing something wrong or is this just normal newborn stuff? How long did this phase last for you guys?

Don't stress about bad habits yet. At that age she literally just wants to feel safe and close to you. My twins did the same thing and it was honestly the best excuse to just sit and hold them.

This is totally normal at 2 weeks. You're not creating a bad habit, you're meeting her needs. They need that contact and warmth. Around 3-4 months you can start gently introducing independent sleep but right now just hold her.

Newborns are supposed to be held. You're doing it right. Once she's a bit older and more settled, independent sleep will come naturally. For now just embrace the cuddles.
