3 week old won't sleep unless held

My son literally screams the second I put him down. I've tried swaddling, white noise, heating the bassinet, everything. I'm running on like 2 hours of sleep a day. My wife keeps saying it's normal but I'm losing it. Is this actually normal or should I be worried? When does this phase end?

Dude, I'm right there with you at 3 weeks. The screaming when I put mine down is real. Everyone says it's a phase and they'll sleep independently eventually, but that doesn't help at 2 AM, right? You're doing fine even though it doesn't feel like it.

Man, those first few weeks are brutal. My son did the exact same thing - he wanted to be held 24/7. It gets better, I promise. For now, try contact naps if you can, even if it means you're not sleeping great either. Hang in there.
