5 weeks in and I still can't tell if my baby is hungry or just screaming
My son will cry and I go through this whole mental checklist. Diaper? Clean. Temperature? Seems fine. Gas? Who knows. Fed 2 hours ago so maybe not hungry but he's acting like he's starving. End up feeding him anyway and he'll fall asleep after 3 minutes. My wife says I'll learn but right now it feels like I'm just guessing. Anyone else feel like a complete idiot trying to decode baby cries or is it just me?
One thing that helped us was keeping a little log of when he ate, slept, and cried. Sounds tedious but after a week or two patterns start to emerge and you can actually predict what he needs instead of just reacting.
