My son will scream his head off the second I put him down but the moment he's in my arms he's out cold. My arms are dead but I can't bring myself to move him. Pretty sure I'm going to fall asleep like this and drop him. Send help and coffee.
My son is exactly the same way right now. The second his back touches the mattress his eyes snap open. I've basically become a human mattress for the last 6 weeks.
This is totally normal and also totally exhausting. Have you tried warming up the bassinet with a heating pad before you put him down? Some babies just need that transition to feel less jarring.
Try the Snoo if you can swing it. Or honestly just lean into the contact naps for now. I know everyone says to get them independent right away but some newborns just need to be held and that's okay.
This is completely normal newborn behavior. They want to be close to you. That said, keep trying the bassinet when he's in deep sleep. Sometimes you can pull it off without waking him.
