Okay so we got a Snoo for our 2-month-old as a gift (my in-laws are loaded) and honestly? It works. She sleeps in it pretty well. BUT it costs like $1600 and I keep feeling weird about having such an expensive thing for a baby who will outgrow it in 5 months. Makes me feel like we're raising some kind of privileged brat or something. Is that stupid? Should I just enjoy the fact that my kid sleeps decent and stop overthinking it?

Our pediatrician actually said the Snoo isn't necessary but it's not harmful either. If your kid sleeps better and you sleep better, that's the only metric that matters. Ignore what parenting blogs say you should feel guilty about.

The 'rich-person guilt purchase' thing is so real but I'd flip it: if your in-laws bought it, you didn't spend the money, so enjoy the benefit without the guilt. Most of these products work fine but feel unnecessary until they actually work for your situation.

We rented one for three months before buying and honestly the cost-benefit started making sense after week two. If it actually solves the sleep problem for your family, that's worth real money. Your mental health matters.

Three kids here and we never had one but friends who did swore by it. The difference between a gift and buying it yourself is huge though - enjoy the gift without the sticker shock guilt.

Had a Snoo and sold it at 4 months when our son outgrew it. The real value was probably weeks 6-12 when we were running on fumes. By the time he needed to transition to a crib anyway, I didn't miss it. Not a waste if it buys you sanity.
