Baby won't sleep in bassinet, only on my chest

So our 2 month old has decided that the only acceptable sleeping arrangement is being on my chest while I'm reclined on the couch. I know about safe sleep guidelines and I'm not dismissing them, but this is where he actually sleeps. My wife gets maybe 3 hours a night this way because he wakes up the second we try to transfer him. Our pediatrician says he's fine, growing well, eating well. Should I just accept this is our reality for now or am I setting us up for bad habits later? First time parent paranoia is real.

Oh man, I remember those days with our first. At 2 months that's completely normal. Our son did the exact same thing and we eventually got him into the bassinet around 4 months. Hang in there, the chest sleeping phase does end.

Man, that chest sleeping phase is real. My 4-month-old did the same thing for weeks and I was paranoid the whole time. Hang in there, it does shift eventually, but I get why you're doing it safely on the couch.

Yeah dude, this is so normal at 2 months. My oldest basically lived on me for the first three months. The good news is it doesn't last forever, but I feel you on the frustration of trying to get them independent.

Sleeping on your chest is actually great bonding time even if it doesn't feel convenient. Soak it in because this phase goes faster than you'd think. One day he'll be refusing hugs.

This is brutal. The naps on the chest are nice but I feel like you're a prisoner to the couch. Have you tried warming up the bassinet before you put him down? Might help with the transition.
