Baby won't sleep more than 45 minutes, wife is losing it

Our daughter is 6 weeks old and literally will not nap longer than 45 min no matter what we do. We've tried dark room, white noise, swaddling, everything. My wife is exhausted and frustrated and I feel helpless. Is this normal? Does it get better? I've read conflicting stuff online and don't know what to believe anymore.
