Our son is 3 weeks old and the second we put him down he cries. The only way he'll sleep is if I'm holding him. My wife and I are exhausted. Is this normal? When does this phase end? I love holding him but I also need to sleep sometime lol. What am I doing wrong?
He'll grow out of it I promise. In the meantime just accept the cuddles because it goes so fast. I know you're exhausted but someday you'll miss holding your baby all night.
White noise machine saved our lives. That plus a tight swaddle made it possible to actually put our son down sometimes. Three weeks is still so new, give yourself grace.
The newborn phase is brutal for this. What helped us was swaddling super tight and warming up the bassinet with a heating pad before putting him down. Made the transition less jarring.

This is so normal at 3 weeks. Your baby literally just spent 9 months being held constantly. The contact is what he knows. It will get easier as he gets older and more confident being in the world.
