We have the Diaper Genie and it's... okay? But honestly our room still smells weird by week 1. Someone recommended the Munchkin Step, someone else swears by just throwing them in a regular trash can outside the room. What's everyone actually using? Is the $80+ really worth it or should we just be more aggressive with taking trash out?
Pro tip: get one of those enzymatic trash sprays for after you empty it. Makes a huge difference with any pail system really.
The Diaper Genie is a lie invented by marketing people. We switched to a Munchkin Step bin with a regular trash bag and some baking soda and it actually works. Game changer.
Honestly we just went back to a regular trash can. The diaper pail market is a scam. Your nursery smells because diapers smell, period. Accept it and move on.
Get a small container with a lid and put a dryer sheet in there. Sounds dumb but it actually helps way more than any fancy system. Plus it's like $3 vs $50.
Have you tried emptying it more than once a week? I know it sounds obvious but a lot of people don't realize the genie only works if you actually use it properly. Not blaming you, just saying.

The Munchkin pail with the odor lock actually works way better than the Genie in my experience. My room legitimately doesn't smell anymore and I'm not a liar about this stuff.
