My wife is pumping and we're bottle feeding every other feeding so I can help. How do I know when he's full? He keeps sucking even after like 4 ounces and I don't want to overfeed him. Also is it normal that he sometimes falls asleep mid feed? Trying not to overthink this but also want to make sure I'm doing it right.
First bottle feedings are nerve wracking haha. The main thing is making sure he's actually swallowing and not just sucking air. You should see his jaw working. If he seems satisfied and isn't rooting around after, you're good. It'll click quick.
Man, taking turns like that is smart. My advice - watch his face and body language. When he's genuinely hungry he'll be focused and aggressive with it. When he's done or just tired, he'll get sloppy about it. Every baby is different but you'll know.

You'll get a feel for it pretty quick. He should be eating for like 5-15 minutes depending on the bottle. The biggest thing is watching his suck-swallow pattern - when he's done he'll just lose interest and start playing with the nipple instead of actually feeding.
