Bottle feeding vs breast feeding questions

My wife wants to do breast feeding but we're also thinking about pumping so I can help with night feeds. I want to be involved but I'm not sure how this all works. Can someone break down what the timeline looks like? Like when can I start giving him a bottle? Also any recommendations for good bottles that don't cause nipple confusion? I want to do this right.
