My wife wants to exclusively breastfeed but she's struggling with supply and getting frustrated. I've been reading that combo feeding or switching to formula isn't a failure but I don't want to push her either way. What have you guys done? I just want both my wife and baby to be happy and healthy.
Supply issues are so real and honestly nobody talks about how much stress it puts on moms. Have you guys looked into a lactation consultant? Our hospital had one covered by insurance and it made a huge difference for us. Not saying it'll fix everything but worth exploring before she gets too discouraged.
Just want to say it's awesome you're asking about this and supporting your wife through it. A lot of partners don't engage with this stuff.
This is such an important conversation. Your wife's frustration is totally valid. There's no shame in formula and sometimes a mix works better for everyone's mental health including the baby's.

Combination feeding was our lifesaver. We did breast when possible and supplemented with formula and honestly it took so much pressure off everyone. The guilt around not exclusively breastfeeding is real but fed is best and all that.
