Breastfeeding journey has been hell

My wife has been trying to breastfeed for 8 weeks and it's been so hard. Cracked nipples, low supply issues, the kid latches wrong half the time. We've seen three lactation consultants. Yesterday we had to supplement with formula and she felt like she failed. I hate watching her struggle like this. I know fed is best and all that but she wanted to do this so bad. Looking for advice or just someone to tell us it gets easier or that we're not alone in this.
