Changing blowout diapers at 2am - tips appreciated

First time dad here. Had my daughter blow out her diaper last night and it was absolutely everywhere. Poop on the onesie, the sheet, my shirt, her hair somehow. I panicked and woke my wife up which I feel bad about. Does this happen every night or was that just a fluke? Also what's the best way to handle these situations without waking the whole house? Any experienced dads have a system that works?

Those newborn blowouts are no joke. Make sure you're getting the diaper high enough in the back and that the leg cuffs are properly sealed. And invest in some waterproof mattress pads for the bassinet because it WILL happen again.

Oh man, welcome to the club. The 2am blowouts are brutal but they happen to all of us. What saved me was going up a diaper size even though she wasn't quite there weight-wise yet. Game changer for the leaks.

Honestly the best tip I got was to change the diaper from the side when she's wearing a onesie instead of trying to pull the whole thing off. Also keep extra clothes and wipes right next to the changing station because you'll need them fast.

One more thing - if you're using a certain brand and getting consistent blowouts, try switching. Every kid is different and my daughter needed a different brand than what worked for my son.
