Had one of those explosive poops yesterday that went up the back and somehow into the baby's hair. It was 2am and I have no idea what I was doing. Do I just expect this to happen like 10 times a day? Do other dads have some trick for this? Also why does baby poop smell different every single day?
Been there. My advice: upgrade to the bigger diaper size one notch higher during night time, and always have a change of clothes within arm's reach. Also learned that holding them at a slight angle helps sometimes. Messy business but you'll get the hang of it.
Six months in here and yeah, those explosions never really stop surprising you. The hair part is brutal though. At least you know you can handle anything now.
Two months in and I had basically the same thing happen at 3am. Just take it as a badge of honor at this point. Does get easier though, I promise.
Man, the 2am blowout is a whole different beast. I've been there and honestly just grabbed whatever was closest and stripped everyone down. You learn quick that sleep is overrated anyway.
Happened to me twice in the first month and I panicked both times. Pro tip: keep a small towel or cloth diaper nearby during changes. Also, don't underestimate the power of a good swaddle wrap to contain the chaos. You'll laugh about this eventually, trust me.
I am past that phase now (3 kids) but I'd just give them a bath if it was bad enough. Something to do together and they get cleaned up.
One time we were out shopping and our 6 month old went through two outfits and I walked down to the Gap store down the street and she got herself a new Minnie Mouse onesie. lol

Oh man, the hair blowout is a rite of passage. I learned the hard way that onesies are basically useless in these situations. Now I just strip my son down to a diaper before feeding time. Saves the laundry headache.
The explosive poops were the worst part of round one for us. Second time around I'm more prepared but honestly it still catches you off guard. Just wait till they start eating solids, that's a whole different ballgame.
