Does anyone actually use all the baby gear?

My parents-in-law want to buy us a ton of stuff for our first kid arriving in a few months. They keep sending registries and asking what we need. Honest question: what stuff actually gets used vs what becomes expensive clutter? I don't want to be ungrateful but I also don't want our apartment looking like a Buy Buy Baby exploded. What are your must-haves vs what's gathering dust in your garage?
