Feeling like a failure because I can't get the diaper on right

This is embarrassing but I've changed maybe 50 diapers now and I still don't feel confident. Either the tabs are too loose and poop gets on his onesie or they're so tight I worry I'm hurting him. My daughter laughs every time I do it. My wife makes it look so easy. How long does it take before this becomes second nature? I feel like I should have this figured out by now.

Honestly the fact that you've changed 50 and are still thinking about it means you care about getting it right. That's what matters. The technique comes with time.

Don't sweat it man, the diaper thing is way harder than it looks at first. You're 50 in and getting closer every time. Keep at it and it'll click.

Dude, 50 diapers in and you're still learning is totally normal. Everyone struggles with the fit at first. You'll figure out what works for your kid and it'll become second nature.
