First diaper blowout happened and I wasn't ready

Poop went everywhere. And I mean EVERYWHERE. Up the back, on his clothes, on my clothes, on the changing table. I just stood there for like 30 seconds not knowing where to start. Wife was laughing at me which honestly made it better. Anyone have tips for preventing these or am I just going to have to accept that this is my life now?
