So we just got home from the hospital about 2 hours ago and my son won't stop crying. My wife is trying to breastfeed and he seems frustrated. I've changed his diaper twice already even though it wasn't wet. Is this normal? Should I be doing something different? I feel completely helpless right now and honestly kind of panicking. Any advice would help.
Man, those first nights are brutal but you're already doing great by being present and checking on things. My son was the same way - turned out he just needed time to figure out breastfeeding with mom. Hang in there, it gets easier.
You're gonna be fine. First night home is the hardest because everything feels urgent, but babies cry and that's just what they do right now. Take shifts sleeping if you can so you're both not running on empty.
This is totally normal, I promise. My wife and I went through the same thing two weeks ago and I felt like we were doing everything wrong. The crying will feel less scary in a few days once you realize he's just adjusting to the world.

The crying never really stops the first few weeks but you'll get used to it. Check the basics - diaper, hungry, gas, tired. Cycle through those and something will usually work. Hang in there.
Is he fed and has a clean diaper? Because if yes to both then honestly sometimes babies just cry and there's nothing wrong. I know that doesn't help your anxiety right now but you're doing fine.
