First night home with newborn, help

We got home yesterday and our son will not stop crying. We've fed him, changed him, burped him, and nothing seems to work. My wife is exhausted and so am I. Is this normal? How long does it usually take for them to settle down? Any tips appreciated because we're losing it here.

Sometimes they just need to cry it out for a bit even when you've done everything right. Take shifts so your wife can sleep in chunks if you can. You're already doing way better than you think.

First night home is insane, you're basically in survival mode. Our girl screamed for like 6 hours straight and we thought something was wrong, but nope, just a newborn being a newborn. It gets better fast.

The exhaustion hits different the first night. Just know this chaos is temporary and you're doing great. In a couple weeks you'll have his rhythms figured out.
