Our son is 2 days old and we have no idea what we're doing. He cries, we panic. He sleeps, we check if he's breathing every 5 minutes. My wife is exhausted from labor and barely sleeping. You're not doing it wrong. Every new dad feels exactly like this. The panic is normal. The constant checking is normal. My son is 3 now and looking back those first weeks were chaos but also kind of beautiful in a weird exhausted way.

This is the hardest part right here. The not knowing. My advice: trust your instincts more than you think you should. If he's fed, dry, and warm, sometimes he just needs to cry a little. And for the love of coffee, try to sleep when he sleeps.

Two days old and you're already in the weeds, that's actually a good sign. Real talk though, at that age the baby just needs food, clean diaper, and comfort. You can't spoil a newborn. My wife and I were the same way with our first. Just ride it out, you got this.
