First Smile! Tell Me This Gets Better

Guys. My boy is 6 weeks old and he smiled at me this morning for the first time. Not the gas smile, an actual real smile. I nearly cried at work thinking about it. Everyone keeps telling me the first few months are brutal and they absolutely are but man, moments like this make it all worth it. Does it actually get easier? I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel with the sleep deprivation.

Nearly crying at work is exactly the right reaction. Six weeks in and you already know what matters. This is going to be a good ride for you two.

Man, that's the moment right there. Once they start smiling at you on purpose, everything changes. It gets better and more chaotic all at once, but yeah, way better.

Wait until he's a little older and gets actually excited to see you. That real recognition is something else. Your boy's lucky to have a dad who notices and feels that stuff.
