First time changing a blowout diaper

Just experienced what I can only describe as a nuclear explosion from my 6-week-old's butt. It was EVERYWHERE. Up the back, somehow on his ear (?), in the crib. I just stood there for like 30 seconds wondering where to even start. My wife was laughing her ass off at me while I'm standing there covered in poop trying to figure out if we needed to burn the mattress pad or if it could be saved. How do experienced dads make this look so easy lol

The ear thing is so real lol. Like how does it REACH there?? Anyway, pro tip: have a changing pad, wipes, AND a trash bag within arm's reach before you even open the diaper. We learned the hard way.

Wait until around month 3-4 when the blowouts get WORSE because they poop more. You think this is bad... nope. But you'll be a pro by then. At 6 weeks you're still shellshocked.

Invest in a good changing pad that has walls or a lip. Saves your crib, your floor, your sanity. Also go up a diaper size if you're getting frequent blowouts—sometimes that fixes it.

One time my son somehow got poop in his HAIR. Not just on the back of his head but like, mixed in. I gave up and just bathed him immediately. Now I keep a tiny towel at the changing station.
