First time changing a diaper and it went everywhere

Why didn't anyone tell me how fast babies can poop? We got home from the hospital yesterday and I opened the diaper during change number 3 and it was just everywhere. On the changing table, on my shirt, in my hair somehow. My wife tried not to laugh but failed miserably. Did I do something wrong or is this just how it goes?

This is one of those things nobody warns you about but everyone should. The good news is after a few more blowouts you'll be changing diapers like a ninja. Hang in there, it gets easier.

Welcome to the club man, nobody really prepares you for the velocity on these things. I got hit with a similar situation on day two and learned real quick to keep extra clothes within arm's reach.
