First time changing a diaper blowout

So I just experienced my first projectile poop incident and I honestly didn't know whether to laugh or cry. It went up the back, down the legs, on his outfit, on my shirt. I called my wife in for backup like I was defusing a bomb. I have a whole new respect for what she's been doing all day. Does this happen every time or did I just get unlucky? Also how do you prevent it?

Haha welcome to the club man. Yeah that first blowout is a rite of passage. Pro tip: keep extra clothes nearby and don't panic when it goes up their back. It happens.

The projectile poop incidents never really stop, they just get less surprising. You did great though, that's the main thing. Some dads freeze up during the first one.
