First time dad confused about bottle sterilization

So my MIL says I need to sterilize every bottle in boiling water and I'm like... really? Every single time? That seems excessive. I've been washing them with hot soapy water and letting them air dry. Am I gonna poison my kid or is this old advice? What's the actual best practice here?

Every bottle is overkill unless your baby is immunocompromised. Dishwasher works great. The paranoia calms down around week 3 when you realize your baby isn't made of glass. Sterilize once a day max, you'll be fine.
Boiling every bottle every time is old school thinking. Modern bottles and dishwashers have made that way easier. Do it once a day and you're golden. Your MIL means well but she's working with 30 year old information.
