First tooth came in and now everything is chaos

My daughter is 6 months and got her bottom front tooth last week. I thought teething was supposed to be painful, not THIS painful. She's barely sleeping, gnawing on everything, drooling like she's got a broken faucet. The Sophie the giraffe teether she has seems to help a little but only for like 5 minutes. Currently going through like 15 bibs a day. Does it get worse before it gets better? How many more teeth does she need to cut??

Wait til she gets the second one. Honestly the second molar run around month 15 was worse than the first tooth. You're in it now but it does get better once all the front ones are through.

wait until tooth #2 and #3 come in at the same time. that's when you realize the first tooth was just a warning shot.

pro tip: freeze a wet washcloth. not teething ring (too small), actual washcloth. she can grab it, chew it, it's soft but has texture. saved us at 3am when nothing else worked

the sleep deprivation from teething is NO JOKE. people act like it's just sore gums but my daughter would wake up every 45 mins. tried motrin on pediatrician's OK and it helped enough to get 2-3 hour blocks back

6 months with a full tooth already? That's early. Has she tried gnawing on wet washcloths? Cold cloth + something to chew usually helps more than those plastic rings. And yeah the sleep deprivation is real - one tooth in = multiple nights of pacing.

Replying to the drool comment - I literally went through like 8 bibs a day. Get the ones with velcro, the snaps are slower to change. Also those teething necklaces for YOU to wear so she can gnaw on that instead of everything else.

the drool is INSANE right? my 6mo is literally soaking through 3 bibs a day. amber necklace didn't work for us but the silicone teething mitten helped - she could gnaw on her own hand without hurting herself

The barely sleeping thing - if she's in your room, she's gonna keep you up a lot more. White noise and some space helped us. Also those amber teething necklaces might be placebo but honestly at 3am you'll try anything.

The drooling is INSANE right? Like she's basically a tiny faucet. Our daughter was the same at 6 months. Teething rings that go in the freezer become your best friend. The numbing helps way more than you'd think.

one tooth at 6 months is early btw - that's rough. some kids cruise through it, others (like mine) treated each tooth like a betrayal. we did cold wet washcloths in the freezer, not frozen solid but ice cold. she'd go to town on those for like 20 mins of relief
