Help, my newborn won't sleep unless I'm holding him

My daughter is 3 weeks old and will only sleep if I'm holding her. The second I put her down in the bassinet she wakes up screaming. My wife and I are running on fumes. Everyone says this is normal but it's hard to function when you can't put the baby down. Is this really just something we ride out? How long did this last for you guys?

This is so normal at 3 weeks. Your daughter isn't broken and you're not doing anything wrong. The contact napping phase is temporary but also kind of beautiful if you can survive it. Bring your phone, settle in, and accept it for a few more weeks.

Three weeks in and you're probably fighting the fourth trimester. She's not spoiled, she just remembers being held in the womb for nine months. It sucks but it passes. White noise machine and maybe trying contact naps in shifts so you don't burn out helped us.

Yep. Mine did this too. I finally realized fighting it was the problem, so I just accepted being a human pacifier for a month. One day she just... stopped needing it. Hang in there.
