So we got this fancy diaper pail that was supposed to seal in smells. It's garbage. Just smells like plastic and poop. We've been using regular trash bags in a regular garbage can instead. Save your money and skip the specialized diaper pails - honestly the smell was overstated anyway. What was your most pointless baby purchase?
The diaper pail thing is such a ripoff. Every parent I know has one gathering dust somewhere. Regular trash with bags works fine and costs way less.

The 'sealing in smells' marketing got so many people. The smell isn't contained by a pail, it's just postponed until you open it and get hit with a wall of it lol.
Same experience here. We bought the fancy sealed one and it literally made things worse - just sealed in the smell and added humidity. Regular garbage can smells better somehow lol
We kept ours for like 2 months then just stopped using it. Took up space, didn't work, made me feel dumb for buying it. Regular trash works great though. Save your $100+.

The smell thing is overstated because newborn diapers aren't actually that rank if you're changing them regularly. Around 6 months when they start real food is when the smell gets gnarly, but by then most people have stopped using the pails anyway.
