My 2 week old won't sleep unless held

First time dad here and I'm losing my mind. Our son will only sleep if someone is holding him. The second we put him down in the bassinet he screams. I've read a million things online about it but nothing works. My wife and I are taking shifts but we're both exhausted. Is this normal? Does it get better? Any actual advice that worked for you guys?

This is totally normal, man. My first did the exact same thing for the first few weeks. It gets better, I promise. The holding phase passes faster than you'd think.

Oh man, I remember those days with my first. My arm was DEAD. Pro tip: try warming up the bassinet with a heating pad before you put him down, then remove it. Sometimes the temperature change is what wakes them up.

Hang in there. With three kids I've learned that newborns just want to be close to you those first weeks. You're not doing anything wrong, and you're definitely not the only one dealing with this. Sleep deprivation is rough but you've got this.
