My newborn screams every time we put him down

Baby boy is 3 weeks old and the second we try to put him in the bassinet he loses his mind. We're holding him basically 24/7 right now and I know that's probably a bad habit but I'm so tired. Wife and I are tag teaming sleep but one of us is always holding him. Is this normal or are we doing something wrong? Anyone else deal with this?

White noise machine saved us with our newborn doing the exact same thing. Couldn't set him down without screaming, but something about that sound helped. Worth a shot.

Three weeks in and you're doing the holding marathon - yeah, that's pretty normal. Try swaddling him tight and keep the bassinet warm before you put him down, might help with the transition.
