Considering grabbing one for our nursery. We're first-time parents with a 3-month-old and I know we're probably being paranoid but the reviews are mixed. Some people swear by it, others say it gave them false alarms constantly. We live in Denver if that matters for altitude stuff. We got one because my wife had genuine anxiety and it actually helped. Like not just helped with the baby but helped her sleep better knowing there was monitoring. Not a gimmick if it's solving a real problem for you, even if that problem is psychological.
As a first-time parent with a 3mo, you're definitely in the paranoid phase (totally normal btw). The Owlet is marketed for that anxiety but doesn't actually solve it - you just find new things to worry about lol. Save the money
The mixed reviews should tell you something. If it was actually that useful there wouldn't be so many people saying it stressed them out more
The thing about Owlet is it's not hospital grade. If you want real monitoring talk to your doctor about whether your 3mo actually needs it health-wise. That's different than whether it'll make you feel better, which it probably will.
We had the Owlet and honestly it was great for like month 2-3 when we were peak paranoid, but by month 6 we realized we barely checked it anymore. If money isn't a concern, get it - the peace of mind alone might be worth it. But it's not a must-have.
The false alerts are the real issue. Some people get constant notifications that their baby's O2 is low and then baby's fine. Defeats the purpose if you stop trusting the device.
I mean if paranoia is the real issue here you might just be better off talking to your pediatrician about safe sleep vs buying gadgets. First-time parent anxiety is real but an app won't actually fix that.
Skip it honestly. You'll drive yourself insane checking an app instead of just... checking on your baby. With a 3 month old, you're already waking up anyway. Save the $300 for something actually useful.
If you're losing sleep over SIDS anxiety anyway, the owlet won't fix that - you'll just refresh the app instead of lying there catastrophizing. Talk to your pediatrician about the actual risk instead

Honestly we spent like $300 on owlet, spent $30 on a regular baby monitor with good range and it's been fine. Your pediatrician said your kid is healthy? That's what matters
