Sleep deprivation is no joke

My son is 5 weeks old and between the feeding schedule and him being generally fussy, I've had maybe 4 hours of actual sleep in the last 2 days. My wife and I keep snapping at each other over nothing. Is this temporary or does it get better soon? How long until newborns sleep for longer stretches?
