Our 5-month-old runs hot and we're always worried about overheating. He kicks off blankets but needs something. Are there breathable sleep sacks that actually work or are we overthinking this? We've tried the Halo ones but he still seems to get clammy.
You're not overthinking it. Overheating is legit a risk. We did the breathable sack + just a onesie (no other blankets) and it was perfect. The bamboo ones are worth the money.
5 months is still pretty young to not have something secure. The sleep sack is the right call instead of trying to manage blankets. Go breathable and call it a win.

Nested Bean or Swaddleme have legit breathable ones. We used both. The Nested Bean was pricey but actually worked. Merino wool ones are also supposed to be great for temp regulation
Check the room temp first. If it's above 72 degrees even a breathable sleep sack might be too much. We lowered our thermostat and that solved like half our issue
The kicking off blankets phase sucks but it's temporary. Sleep sack eliminates that whole stress. Bamboo ones breathe way better than cotton. Your 5mo will be fine, you're being thoughtful.

Sweaty babies are so normal but also stressful. Look for bamboo or merino wool sleep sacks - they actually regulate temp instead of just trapping heat. Kyte Baby and Goumi Kids are pricey but worth it.
Honest question: what's your room temp? Because if you're keeping it cool (like 68-70F) and doing a thin breathable sack he should be totally fine. Don't overshoot the solution.
