Sleep training at 4 months - am I losing my mind?

My wife wants to start sleep training our 4 month old and I'm honestly torn. She's exhausted, I'm exhausted, we're both running on fumes. But every article I read says 6 months is the minimum. Has anyone done it earlier? How did it go? I feel like we're either going to solve our sleep problem or create a bigger mess. The crib protest cries are getting to me though.

The exhaustion is real, man. We were in the same boat and honestly some gentle sleep training helped us both get more rest so we could actually be present with the kids. Trust your gut but also trust your wife when she says she needs help.
