Sleep training at 4 months - did it work for you guys?

My son is 4 months old and we're thinking about doing some form of sleep training. He's up 4-5 times a night still and it's killing us. I read about the Ferber method but it makes me feel guilty. Did anyone actually do this successfully or are we better off just waiting it out? Looking for honest experiences not judgment.
