Son won't sleep unless he's on my chest

My boy is 6 weeks old and literally will not sleep anywhere but on top of me. The second I try to put him down in the bassinet he starts crying. I'm exhausted man. I've read all the safe sleep stuff and I know I shouldn't be doing this every night but I'm so tired I don't even care anymore. Anyone else deal with this? Does it get better or am I creating a monster?

Six weeks and you're already thinking about putting him down? Give it time man. Mine is four months and we're still doing contact naps. My PT is crushing tummy time which is apparently the move right now.
Have you tried the gradual thing where you wait until he's really deep asleep before moving him? Doesn't always work but sometimes buys you an hour. Solidarity brother.
