My 3 week old will literally only sleep if I'm holding him. The second I try to put him down in the bassinet he wakes up screaming. My wife says it's normal but I'm exhausted. I've tried warming the mattress, white noise, everything. Does anyone else deal with this? When did your babies finally accept the bassinet?
Totally normal dude, my first son was the same way. He just wants to be close to you right now - it passes quicker than you think. Try skin to skin contact, that helped us a ton.
Yeah that's completely normal at 3 weeks. All three of mine did this phase. The good news is you're doing exactly what he needs, even though it's exhausting. It gets better, hang in there.
Totally normal. My son was the exact same way for the first month. It's called the fourth trimester for a reason. They want to be held because that's what they know. It'll get easier, I promise.
At 3 weeks this is completely normal developmental stuff. He needs to feel you. The sleep will happen once he's more developed. For now you're not messing anything up by holding him.
This phase sucked for us too but honestly it's kind of sweet looking back. Now he won't let me hold him at all and I'd trade anything to have those quiet nights back. Hang in there, it passes faster than you think.
The bassinet next to the bed might help. We'd hold our son until he was totally asleep then gently transfer him. Took practice but eventually he'd sleep in there. Those contact naps are brutal on your arms and back though.
Mine was the exact same way. I was worried about the same thing but my pediatrician said at that age it's impossible to spoil them. They literally need the contact. So hold your son guilt free.
This is biology not bad parenting. Newborns have a need to be held and close to someone. Some babies take longer to adjust to independent sleep and that's okay. You're doing great.
Normal as it gets. My 3 month old still prefers being held and I've made peace with it. The bassinet will still be there in a few months when he's ready.

Three weeks old doing this is totally expected - he just came from being held 24/7 in the womb. My guys wouldn't settle down either until they got bigger. You're doing great, just keep holding him.
