My boy is 6 weeks old and literally will not go down in the bassinet without screaming his lungs out. Soon as I pick him up he's out like a light. I'm exhausted man. My wife keeps saying it's normal but I'm worried I'm creating bad habits. Anyone else dealing with this? How long did it take for your baby to be cool sleeping on their own?
This is such a common thing. The good news is it passes, but in the meantime try some contact naps when you can. You're doing great by being there for him.
Totally normal at 6 weeks, man. My daughter does the exact same thing with me but my wife gets the screaming treatment. I think they just like feeling secure in our arms, and honestly it's kind of nice even if it's exhausting.
This phase is rough but it won't last forever. We did contact naps for like 8 weeks and then one day he just decided the bassinet was cool. Hang in there. The exhaustion is real but you're not doing anything wrong.
Six week olds basically want to be held all the time. You're not making a bad habit, you're meeting a newborn's actual needs. It gets better I promise. Try white noise and keeping the bassinet warm before you put him down.

Totally normal man. Six weeks old and he still remembers being in the womb where there's constant contact. He'll grow out of it. My son did this exact thing and by 4 months he was sleeping in the bassinet no problem.
